biggest loser

I admit it — I love watching The Biggest Loser. I love watching other people sweat to a goal because it motivates me to exercise. In fact, it’s hard for me to watch the show without hopping on my exercise bike.

Tara Costa, the runner up on Season 7 who should have won, has kept up a blog since her TBL days. While scanning through her posts, I noticed one with jaw-appropriate smoothies! Many of them involve protein powder, which is a good supplement that jaw surgery patients can use to feel fuller.

I’m particularly impressed by these two recipes:

Peanut Brittle Shake

8 oz. low-fat milk

2 tbsp. instant sugar-free butterscotch pudding mix (dry)

1 serving vanilla protein powder

1 tbsp. natural peanut butter

Coffee Kick

1 c. brewed coffee or hot cocoa, cooled

1/2 c. crushed ice

1 tbsp. coffee creamer (or 6-oz. Jell-O Pudding Shot, vanilla or chocolate)

1 packet of Stevia (optional)
