a twist on jaw foods

Healthy living expert Tina from Carrots ‘N’ Cake was nice enough to point me in the direction of a tasty smoothie she made that would be great post-surgery.

So smoothies are pretty common after surgery. Sweet potatoes are great when mashed. Put them together and you have the Sweet Potato Pie smoothie!

-1/2 cup mashed sweet potato

– 1 ripe banana

-1/4 cup plain or vanilla yogurt

– 1/4 cup vanilla soy milk

– 1 tbsp hemp (or whey) protein

– 1 tbsp agave nectar 

– 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

– 1/2 tsp cinnamon

– 1/2 cup ice

– Dash of nutmeg

Just combine everything, blend, pour and sip. This obviously would be a perfect treat if you’ll be out of commission around the holidays, but I’ll be giving it a shot next month.

I visited my surgeon yesterday for impressions and the whole nine yards. He gave me the post-op jaw surgery diet packet, which has some great tips! More on that later.
